Lavender Wands

Lavender bottles or wands have been used to freshen linens and impart fragrance for centuries. Use them to fragrance linen or lingerie drawers, or wherever you would use a sachet.

Approximately 15 fresh stems of lavender at least 12 inches long
Narrow ribbon

Lavender Wand

  1. Take a small bunch of lavender stems. Align the flower clusters so that the bottom bud is in the same place when holding them. Bind them together (fishing line works great, just be careful not to break any stems) just below the last flower buds.
  2. Carefully bend each stem down one at a time down over the blossom heads being careful to avoid breakage. The stems look like a cage around the lavender flower heads, encasing them inside.
  3. Weave the ribbon in the lavender stems taking care to keep it flat and basket weave around until all the flower heads are encased. Pack the weaving gently as you proceed so that each new row touches the previous row.
  4. Wrap the rest of the ribbon binding the stems together tightly (they will shrink when they dry) down to the ends and then back up to the base of the flower heads. Tie a pretty bow.
